LIONS OVERWHELM THE FIELD AT CIF-SS FINALS: The @jserra.tfxc Girls Track and Field team continued its’ Division 3 dominance with a fourth straight team title on Saturday at the CIF-SS Division 3 Finals at Moorpark High School in Moorpark.
Junior Reese Holley enjoyed a championship double never before seen by a Lions runner.
She clocked a lifetime best of 4:48.28 en route to winning the 1600m title.
Teammates Maya Pawlowicz (4:53.50) and Kaia Streadbeck (4:56.73) placed fourth and sixth respectively.
Holley later became the first runner in school history to claim both the 1600m and the 800m titles, when she powered past the field for a 2:09.99 win in the two-lap battle.
Senior Chloe Elbaz (2:10.39) was second, senior Mireya Hardman (2:15.35) placed fifth, and Pawlowicz (2:19.12) was seventh.
JSerra earned two relay victories on the day.
Elbaz anchored teammates Morgan Woolforde, Maya Woolforde, and Tessa Russell to a school record 48.08 in the 4x100m relay, while also anchoring Streadbeck, junior Hayden Kroger, and Hardman to a 9:21.21 win in the inaugural 4x800m relay.
Senior Helena Reuter vaulted into history in the pole vault, as she cleared 12 feet, 1 inch to become the school’s first ever pole champion.
Junior Adi Rusin placed second with a clearance of 11 feet, 7 inches.
History was also made in the shot put ring, as junior Kai Beary produced a final attempt throw of 36 feet, 6 inches to become the first shot put title winner in school history.
Beary (110 feet, 5 inches) was fifth in the discus.
Morgan Woolforde (45.93) finished third in the 300m Hurdles, with Russell (46.22) placing fifth.
Maya Woolforde (56.72) was sixth in the 400m.
JSerra totaled 126 total points to easily outpace runner-up Calabasas (65 points).
Senior Alden Morales defended his 800m crown with a win in 1:52.07, while also anchoring the team of seniors J.P. DeSantos and Cole Carlson, along with junior Jack Burnett to a title in the 4x800m relay in 7:47.59.
Burnett (1:54.81) was fourth in the 800m.
Senior Luke Friedl (4:16.61) was sixth in the 1600m.
