LIONS OPEN STRONG AT EAGLE INVITE: The @jserra.tfxc Girls and Boys Track and Field teams each kicked off their respective campaigns on Saturday with stellar performances at the Eagle Invitational at Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita.
Senior Helena Reuter highlighted the list of noteworthy accomplishments for the Lions with a victorious school record effort in the pole vault.
Reuter soared past the bar at 10-6, 11-0, and 11-6 on first attempt clearances, before a second attempt clearance at 12-0 wrapped up the individual victory.
The bar was then raised to 12-4, and on her first attempt, Reuter soared over the bar for a new school record, besting her previous school record of 12-3 set at last spring’s CIF-SS Masters Meet.
Junior teammate Adi Rusin finished second with a lifetime best clearance of 11 feet, 6 inches.
Sophomore Vivian Beary claimed first place in the triple jump with a leap of 30-11.
Junior Kai Beary finished second in both the shot put (36-7) and the discus (131-11).
Junior Reese Holley opened her campaign with a triumphant performance in the 800m, as she topped the field in a winning time of 2:14.39.
Holley teamed with freshman Maya Pawlowicz, junior Hayden Kroger, and freshman Sierra Harden to win the 4x800m relay in a time of 9:35.53.
Senior Maya Woolforde was also a winner in her 400m seasonal debut, clocking a first-place effort of 56.05.
Woolforde also placed second overall in the 200m, clocking a wind-legal time of 25.25.
Woolforde, seniors Chloe Elbaz and Mireya Hardman, along with sophomore Morgan Woolforde placed second in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:59.88.
Senior Jack Burnett enjoyed a strong opening to his season, as he finished runner-up in the 400m (50.53) and third in the 1600m (4:26.19).
Senior Luke Friedl placed third in the 800m race with a time of 1:59.78.
