LIONS SHOW STRENGTH AT TRITON AND TROPHY INVITATIONALS: The @jserra.tfxc Girls Track and Field tteam displayed a comprehensive show of muscle this weekend at both the Triton Invitational at San Clemente High School and the Trophy Invitational at Laguna Beach High School.
Senior Helena Reuter and junior Adi Rusin set the bar of excellence in the pole vault competition at the Triton Invitational.
Reuter took home the competition crown with a winning clearance of 12 feet, 1 inch, her third invitational victory this season (and third 12-ft or higher clearance).
Rusin vaulted to a new lifetime best clearance of 11 feet, 7 inches and finished second to Reuter.
The Lions enjoyed more stellar showings at the Trophy Invitational.
Junior Kai Beary finished as the runner-up in both the discus (114 feet, seven inches) and the shot put (35 feet, 9 inches).
Senior Maya Woolforde turned in a second-place effort in the 400m, as she clocked a time of 56.32, while also placing fourth in the 200m in 25.90.
Senior Molly Hogan tied her lifetime best (and shared school record) in the high jump with a successful scaling of the bar at 5 feet, 2 inches to tie for third place.
Freshman Tessa Russell placed fourth in both the 100m hurdles (17.09) and the 300m hurdles (49.02).
