LIONS POSTRACE: Junior Reese Holley of the @jserra.tfxc Girls Track and Field team put forth one of the nation’s standout performances of the season to date in the 1600m, as she clocked a 4:48.49 (the nation’s fourth best time) to place second in the elite 1600m race at THE TEN Invitational on Saturday at JSerra Catholic High School.

Holley detailed her elite effort against an elite field of competitors and how she hopes to build off a strong night on her home track with more big showcase invitationals on the horizon.

LIONS DAZZLE UNDER THE LIGHTS AT THE TEN: Distance runners from the @jserra.tfxc Girls and Boys teams dazzled against their elite peers at THE TEN Invitational on Saturday at JSerra Catholic High School.
The annual distance showcase featuring competition in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m saw a multitude of high-quality racing performances.

Junior Reese Holley produced a national spotlight effort in the 1600m race, as she blazed to a new lifetime best effort of 4:48.49 to place second.

Holley’s time (trailing only a national-leading burner of 4:40.01 by Santiago High of Corona’s Braelyn Combe) is the second fastest time currently in the state and the fourth fastest nationally to date.

It also moved her into second place in school history, trailing only former standout Katherine Delaney’s 4:42.95 performance at the 2011 CIF-SS Masters Meet.

Freshman Maya Pawlowicz continued her dazzling first year effort in the elite 1600m race with her final racing strides landing her in eighth place with a time of 4:53.23.

Pawlowicz is currently the fastest freshman four-lapper in the country and the fastest ever in school history, while also moving into seventh place on the school’s all-time performance list.

Junior Hayden Kroger also ran to a lifetime best of 4:59.75.

Senior Chloe Elbaz clocked a time of 2:11.02 in the elite 800m race to place fifth with fellow senior Mireya Hardman lowering her lifetime best to 2:16.23.

Earlier in day, sophomore Talia Whitten (5:15.47) was a heat winner in the 1600m

Senior Jack Burnett turned in another high-quality outing in the elite Boys 800m race, as he completed his two-lap sprint in 1:53.71, which earned him second place.

Senior JohnPaul De Santos lowered his lifetime best for the second straight week, finishing sixth in a time of 1:54.65, the sixth fastest 800m performance in school history.

Senior Luke Friedl moved into eighth place on the school’s all-time 1600m list, as he turned in a lifetime best of 4:12.75 in the elite 1600m race.

Earlier in the day, senior Cole Carlson (4:20.41) and junior Zac O’Leary (4:20.88) finished first and second respectively in their 1600m heat.

LIONS PREFORM STRONG IN INVITATIONAL ACTION: Sprint and field event athletes from the @jserra.tfxc Girls and Boys team represented the program quite well during invitational competition throughout Southern California on Saturday.

Senior Molly Hogan highlighted the action at the Beach Cities Invitational at Huntington Beach High School with a school record effort in the high jump.

Hogan cleared the bar at 5 feet, 3 inches to place fourth, and in the process, broke a three-way tie for the best high jump clearance in school history.

Junior Adi Rusin and senior Helena Reuter tied for the best clearance in the pole vault competition, with each vaulter getting over the bar at 11 feet, 6 inches.

Freshman Tessa Russell enjoyed a busy day of multi-event competition.

Russell claimed a heat victory in the 300m hurdles, winning with a time of 47.44, the fifth best time effort among all heats in the invitational.

She was a runner-up in her heat of the 100m, sprinting to a wind-legal lifetime best of 12.99.

Russell also turned in a third-place, wind-aided clocking of 16.88 in her heat of the 100m hurdles.

She also scaled 4 feet, 8 inches in the high jump.

The Lions continued its` strong season of results in the 4x100m relay at the Mt. Carmel Sundevil Invitational at Mt. Carmel High School in San Diego.

The quartet of junior Will Fredericksen, sophomore Sam Fredericksen, junior Josiah Blackwell, and senior Zacarias Nickerson navigated the baton around the track in the 4x100m relay in a time of 42.16 to place.

Senior Maya Woolforde placed seventh amongst all heats in the 400m, clocking a time of 56.50.

Woolforde was also fourth in her 200m heat with a wind-legal time of 25.21.

LIONS CLAIM OC TITLE: The @jserraswimmingdiving Boys Swim team shined brightest amongst its’ county constituents on Saturday, as the Lions seized the team title at the 2026 Orange County Championships at JSerra Catholic High School.

Senior Nolan Baker spearheaded the team triumph by supplying history with his two individual titles.

He surged to a meet record in the 50 Free (20.55) and then set a new pool and meet record in the 100 Free (46.41).

Both times were CIF automatic qualifying times.

JSerra also produced a new meet record in the 200 Free Relay, winning in a CIF consideration time of 1:26.75, while also clocking a 1:38.54 CIF consideration win in the 200 Medley Relay.

Sophomore Lars Knepper, who achieved the CIF automatic time standard in the 50 Free during Friday’s prelims, finished third in the finals in a time effort of 21.78.

Juniors Joe Wraith (21.81) and Heath Kitcher (22.10) were fourth and fifth respectively with CIF consideration efforts.

Knepper achieved a CIF consideration time of 47.56 in the 100 Free, finishing runner-up to Baker.

JSerra also produced a new meet record in the 200 Free Relay, winning in a CIF consideration time of 1:26.75.

Other CIF consideration swims included: sophomore Ronan Keane who was third in the 200IM (2:01.14) and fourth in the 500 Free (4:54.44) and fellow sophomore Sean Hux who was fourth in the 100 Back in a time of 55.76.

The Lions claimed the team crown with a total of 418.50 points.

JSerra accumulated 276 points and finished third in girls team competition

Senior Gabby Elbaz turned in stellar individual efforts by placing second in the 500 Free (5:15.63) and third in the 100 Breast (1:10.80).

Both were CIF consideration performances.

Senior Sophia Cutone (26.04) produced a third-place swim in the 50 Free.

Lions Head Coach Kevin Clements was pleased with program`s overall showing.

“We were great on all levels, setting pool and meet records, winning 11 events, and qualifying for CIF," Clements said.

“With a month to go before the Trinity League championships, this was a perfect indicator of our ability to perform at a high level."
