LIONS PREFORM STRONG IN INVITATIONAL ACTION: Sprint and field event athletes from the @jserra.tfxc Girls and Boys team represented the program quite well during invitational competition throughout Southern California on Saturday.
Senior Molly Hogan highlighted the action at the Beach Cities Invitational at Huntington Beach High School with a school record effort in the high jump.
Hogan cleared the bar at 5 feet, 3 inches to place fourth, and in the process, broke a three-way tie for the best high jump clearance in school history.
Junior Adi Rusin and senior Helena Reuter tied for the best clearance in the pole vault competition, with each vaulter getting over the bar at 11 feet, 6 inches.
Freshman Tessa Russell enjoyed a busy day of multi-event competition.
Russell claimed a heat victory in the 300m hurdles, winning with a time of 47.44, the fifth best time effort among all heats in the invitational.
She was a runner-up in her heat of the 100m, sprinting to a wind-legal lifetime best of 12.99.
Russell also turned in a third-place, wind-aided clocking of 16.88 in her heat of the 100m hurdles.
She also scaled 4 feet, 8 inches in the high jump.
The Lions continued its` strong season of results in the 4x100m relay at the Mt. Carmel Sundevil Invitational at Mt. Carmel High School in San Diego.
The quartet of junior Will Fredericksen, sophomore Sam Fredericksen, junior Josiah Blackwell, and senior Zacarias Nickerson navigated the baton around the track in the 4x100m relay in a time of 42.16 to place.
Senior Maya Woolforde placed seventh amongst all heats in the 400m, clocking a time of 56.50.
Woolforde was also fourth in her 200m heat with a wind-legal time of 25.21.
