WOLVERINES TOP LIONS: The @jserrahoops Boys Basketball team was defeated by the Harvard-Westlake Wolverines 67-50 at the OC2LC Elite 8 Event on Friday at JSerra Catholic High School.
JSerra is now 13-7 overall on the season.
The Wolverines scored seven of the game’s first eight points, but the Lions battled back lead by senior Jaden Bailes.
Bailes connected on five of his first seven shots from the field and scored 15 points in the first half, which ended with the two teams deadlocked at 24-24.
The Wolverines produced a 7-0 run in the first 48 seconds of the third quarter, but Bailes scored five straight points to pull the Lions back to within two, and a thunderous dunk by junior Earl Bryson tied the score at 31-31 with 5:45 remaining in the period.
Harvard-Westlake closed the quarter with a 19-9 spurt to take a 50-40 advantage into the fourth, where they closed out the win.
Bailes finished with a game-high 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field (including 5-of-7 from three-point range)
Bryson scored 12 of his 19 points in the second half, connecting on 7-of-11 shots from the field.
