LIONS SINK SERVITE: The @jserra.baseball team earned its first Trinity League victory on Tuesday, as the Lions defeated the Servite Friars 2-1 at JSerra Catholic High School.
The Friars tallied their lone run of the game in the first inning to take the lead, but the Lions answered in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Senior Blake Bowen started the rally with a two-out single before junior Ayden Coleman doubled to left field to plate Bowen with the tying run.
Freshman Joey Koenig followed with a go-ahead RBI single to left to score Coleman to put the Lions in front for good.
Senior Otto Graham tamed the Friars’ offense on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings, in which he scattered five hits and struck out four.
Servite put the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position in the top of the seventh inning, but junior Joe Hollis recorded the final two outs to record the save and seal the victory.
The Lions are now 6-8 overall and will look to win the rubber game of the series on Wednesday when they travel to Servite High School in Anaheim.
First pitch is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
