LIONS RELAYS SHINE UNDER THE LIGHTS AT OREGON RELAYS: The @jserra.tfxc Girls and Boys Track and Field teams each saw their distance relay quartets take center stage on the final day of competition at the 2026 Oregon Relays on Saturday at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene.

Senior Chloe Elbaz, senior Maya Woolforde, senior Mireya Hardman, and freshman Maya Pawlowicz comprised the Lions relay team in the Girls 4000m Distance Medley Relay Championship race.

Elbaz (who placed fourth in a time of 44.09 in the 300m Hurdles Championship Race earlier in the evening), surged to an opening 1200m leg of 3:38.67, before handing the baton to Woolforde, who clocked a 56.91 400m split.

Hardman was the next runner to receive the stick and completed her 800m sprint in 2:18.82 to set up the 1600m anchor run by Pawlowicz.

Pawlowicz capped the relay by turning in a four-lap effort of 5:01.39, which saw her cross the finish line to complete JSerra’s fourth place finish in a current state-leading time of 11:55.79.

Seniors Jack Burnett, Cole Carlson, J.P. DeSantos, and Luke Friedl joined forces to lead the Lions into the Boys 4000m Distance Medley Championship race.

Burnett kicked off the relay with a 3:08.35 1200m split, which was followed by a 51.37 400m leg by Carlson, and a 1:58.81 800m burst by DeSantos.

Friedl’s 4:20.63 1600m anchor finished off a 10:19.16 cumulative clocking for the Lions that earned them seventh place overall.

JSerra’s race effort is the third fastest in the state this spring to date.

PAWLOWICZ STARS ON OPENING DAY OF OREGON RELAYS: Freshman Maya Pawlowicz of the @jserra.tfxc Girls Track and Field team supplied an electric distance running performance to highlight the Lions’ opening day effort at the 2026 Oregon Relays on Friday at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene.

Pawlowicz seized the lead in the Girls Freshman 2-Mile Championship race with the echo of the opening gun still ringing throughout the stadium and paced the field comfortably in front.

After coming through the first half of the race in 5:24.80, Pawlowicz settled into a measured pace over the next three laps, before a closing burst of 72.44 over the final 400 meters.

Her final racing strides brought her across the finish line in a victorious lifetime best of 10:47.10.

Pawlowicz’s impressive clocking is the second fastest two-mile performance in the state and the 10th fastest in the country this spring to date.

It is also the second fastest two-mile race in school history.

Her en route 3200m time of 10:43.60 set a new freshman school record and is the fourth best time in school history across all classes.

Pawlowicz was clocked at a state-leading 10:07.90 at 3000m, which is also the second-best time from that distance in school history.

Freshman teammate Brooklyn Tennant drafted comfortably behind Pawlowicz throughout the eight-lap battle and crossed the finish line with a second-place effort of 11:03.63.

Tennant’s race is the fourth best in the state this season and the third fastest in school history.

Her en route 3000m clocking of 10:18.80 is also the state’s third best this spring and the third best in school history.

Senior Maya Woolforde (57.51) finished fourth in her heat of the 400m championship and placed eighth overall out of 46 runners.
