LIONS START FAST AT OC CHAMPIONSHIPS: The @jserraswimmingdiving Boys and Girls Teams got off to a hot start during the preliminaries of the 2026 Orange County Championships at JSerra Catholic High School.

The duo of senior Nolan Baker and sophomore Lars Knepper surged to impressive CIF Auto Time standards in two qualifying races.

Baker was the top qualifier in the 50 Free in a time of 20.75, while Knepper recorded a time of 21.29, the third best qualifying time of the race.

(Junior Joseph Wraith achieved a CIF consideration time of 21.83 in the race).

Baker duplicated the auto time standard feat in the 100 Free with a 46.51 clocking, with Knepper doing the same by touching the wall right behind him at 46.88.

Sophomore Ronan Keane (2:00.78) turned in the second fastest qualifying swim in the 200IM.

A pair of seniors achieved CIF consideration time performances in qualifying racing on the girls’ side.

Senior Maddie Weston (25.22) was the top qualifier in the 50 Free, while also recording the second-best qualifying time in the 100 Free (54.53).

Senior Gabby Elbaz (1:09.68) was second in the 100 Breast qualifier.

The Lions saw their top relay combinations in both Boys and Girls racing achieve CIF consideration time efforts.

JSerra had 50 total athletes advance to Saturday’s finals.

EAGLES EDGE LIONS IN TRINITY OPENER: The @jserra.softball team and Santa Margarita battled to kickoff Trinity League action on Friday, with the Eagles squeezing out a 1-0 victory over the Lions at JSerra Catholic High School.

JSerra is now 14-3 overall on the season.

Santa Margarita tallied the lone run of the contest in the top of the third inning, and though the Lions had the go-ahead runners on base in the bottom of the sixth inning and the tying run on base in the bottom of the seventh, the Eagles quelled each threat to earn the win.

Senior Liliana Escobar tossed a complete game for the Lions, allowing six hits and one earned run in seven innings, while striking out 13 batters.

Junior Angie Jimenez went 2-for-3, while freshman Magenta De Arte and sophomore Annabel Raftery each collected a hit for the Lions.
