LIONS SHINK SHARKS: The @jserra.girlslax team enjoyed a successful road venture on Thursday, as the Lions topped the Santiago Sharks by a score of 16-1 in a nonleague game at Santiago High School in Corona.

The win improves the Lions record to 10-3 on the season.

Senior Kate Berkus spearheaded the victory with a team-high six goals and a team-leading five assists.

LIONS TAKE DOWN BRAVES TRINITY OPENER: The @jserralionslax team opened Trinity League action on Thursday with an 16-6 victory over the St. John Bosco Braves at JSerra Catholic High School.

JSerra improves to 7-3 on the season.

Behind two goals from senior Brady Ng and individual tallies from seniors Asher Stevenson and Gavin Goodrich, the Lions jumped out to a 4-0 lead at the end of the first period.

Stevenson and Goodrich each added their second scores of the contest in the second period, while seniors Graham Kitcher and Mason Stephens also found the back of the net to help give the Lions an 8-2 lead at the intermission.

Stephens, Stevenson, and senior Rocco Tompkins supplied third period goals to give the Lions an 11-4 advantage heading into the final period.

The final period saw Stevenson put the finishing touches on his four-goal performance, Ng adding his third goal, while senior Doug Lorimer, junior Jack Coriale, and freshman Brayden Guest each added a scoring strike.

LIONS SWIM PAST FRIARS: The @jserraswimmingdiving Boys Team produced a dominant road pool triumph on Thursday, as the Lions overwhelmed the Servite Friars 123-47 in a Trinity League battle at Servite High School in Anaheim.

JSerra improves to 4-0 overall.

Sophomore Andrew Schneider and junior Joseph Wraith each claimed two victories on the day, as Schneider won the 200IM (2:08.29) and 500 Free (5:01.19), while Wraith was victorious in the 50 Free (22.85) and the 100 Breast (1:05.86).

Also earning individual victories were junior Heath Kitcher (56.96) in the 100 Fly, sophomore Sean Hux (1:00.10) in the 100 Back, and freshman Jonathan Hendy (1:53.08) in the 200 Free.

Hux, Wraith, senior Chase Clements, and junior Hunter Hughes joined forces to win the 200 Medley Relay in a time of 1:44.58.

Schneider, Hendy, Hux, and sophomore Cal Ulicny combined efforts to take home the victory in the 400 Free Relay with a clocking of 3:27.97.

Lions Head Coach Kevin Clements was pleased with the team’s effort heading into this weekend’s Orange County Championships.

“This was a great meet for us heading into the Orange County Championships this weekend,” Clements said. “We lost to Servite last year and easily handled them this season.”

“Once again, our youth is stepping up and competing well.”

LIONS ELEVATE PAST EAGLES: The @jserra.beachvolleyball team kicked off the second half of Trinity League play on Thursday with a 4-1 road victory over the Santa Margarita Eagles at Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita.

JSerra is now 13-2 overall and 4-0 in league.

Senior Skylar Noble and sophomore Ava Champagne supplied day’s most entertaining triumph for the Lions, as the duo claimed victory in three sets by scores of 21-18, 19-21, 15-11.

Seniors Sara Moynihan and Presley Johnson were victorious by scores of 21-13 and 21-9, senior Catherine Beadles and junior Berit Brinkema claimed triumphs of 21-10 and 21-16, and juniors Sarah Thorp and Lyla Gerstenberger earned dual wins of 21-17 and 21-17.
