TOMPKINS, STORY HONORED: JSerra seniors Rocco Tompkins and Jackson Story were recently honored by the First Friday Friars Catholic Men’s Organization at their annual Sports Day celebration at St. John Maron Maronite Catholic Church in Orange.
Tompkins took home the prestigious Zug Cup Award, named in memorial honor of Robert “Zug” Zastrow, a former football and baseball player at the US Naval Academy, who later in life become president of the First Friday Friars Organization.
The Zug Cup is awarded annually to scholarly male student-athletes from Trinity League schools JSerra, Mater Dei, Santa Margarita, and Servite who embody a love of football in combination with a strong belief in God, love of family, and standout civic duty.
Tompkins becomes the third JSerra student to be recognized since the Zug Cup was first awarded in 1991, joining former Lion honorees Nicholas Robinson (2015) and Jack Munro (2023).
Senior Jackson Story was honored (along with three other Trinity League male student-athletes) with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Student-Athlete Award.
This new award will be presented annually to the male student-athlete who represents Christ through humility, charity, integrity, and quiet leadership, while placing others before himself, treating people with dignity and respect, and living a virtuous life.
Congrats Rocco and Jackson!!
