LIONS SWEEP PAST COUGARS: Both the @jserra.swimmingdiving Boys and Girls teams enjoyed victorious showings in the pool on Tuesday, as both defeated Capistrano Valley in a head-to-head nonleague competition at Capistrano Valley in Mission Viejo.
The Lions claimed a 106-63 team triumph over the Cougars in the boys’ team battle.
Senior Connor Colman turned in victorious swims in the 50 Free (21.96) and the 100 Free (48.16).
Both efforts were CIF consideration times.
Freshman JJ Hendy touched the wall first in the 200 Free with a time of 1:55.56.
JSerra defeated Capistrano Valley 88-82 in the team battle on the girls’ side.
Senior Gabby Elbaz turned in a CIF consideration clocking of 5:29.14 to win the 500 Free, while also winning the 100 Breast in a time of 1:12.64.
Senior Maddie Weston claimed individual victories in both the 50 Free (26.39) and the 100 Free (56.39).
Lions Head Coach Kevin Clements was pleased with the overall efforts produced by both teams, while having an eye toward continued improvement starting with Thursday’s home-opening battle with Crean Lutheran.
“Everyone raced well, especially those that swam in new events, really showing our depth,” Clements said. “We are looking for faster times at home against Crean Lutheran on Thursday.”
