ESCOBAR’S BRILLIANCE EARNS TOP CIF-SS AND ORANGE COUNTY HONORS

Junior pitcher Liliana Escobar made a major impact in the circle for the JSerra Softball team this spring and her standout campaign resulted in two major postseason awards.
Escobar was named the CIF-SS Division 2 Player of the Year and the Orange County Register’s Pitcher of the Year.
Her breakthrough junior campaign saw her post a 14-5 record with a school record 1.20 ERA in 140 innings pitched.
Her 240 strikeouts also set a single season school record.
Escobar’s dominance helped spearhead the Lions’ remarkable run to the CIF-SS Division 2 championship game, the program’s first ever appearance in a championship game.
Though the Lions fell to Los Alamitos 3-0 in 10 innings in the title game, Escobar was spectacular, striking out 16 Griffin batters.
Escobar is the first player in program history to win either award.
