TARTANS BEAT LIONS: The @jserra.boysvolleyball team visited city neighbor St. Margaret’s in a nonleague battle on Wednesday, with the Tartans producing a 25-14, 25-18, 25-12 triumph over the Lions at St. Margaret’s Episcopal High School.

The Lions are now 5-7 overall on the season.

JSerra will next be in action on Friday when they travel crosstown to square off against San Juan Hills.

KNIGHTS DEFEAT LIONS: The @jserralionslax Boys Lacrosse team suffered its` first defeat of the season on Tuesday, as the Lions were beaten by the Foothill Knights, 11-6, in a nonleague clash at JSerra Catholic High School.

The Lions are now 3-1 overall.

Senior Mason Stephens tallied the Lions` lone goal of the first period, as the Knights took a 3-1 lead.

Foothill extended the lead to 5-1, but JSerra responded with three straight goals in the final 3:16 of the first half.

Stephens scored twice and fellow senior Asher Stevenson also found the back of the net to trim the deficit to 5-4 at halftime.

The Knights scored the first two goals of the third period to recapture a three-goal cushion, but Stevenson’s second score of the game narrowed the Knights lead to 7-5.

But Foothill responded with four straight goals to close the third period and open the fourth quarter to seize control of the game

Stephens capped a big scoring performance with his fourth goal in the final period.
