The @jserra.girlsvb team earned a split of its’ four matches this weekend at the Freeway Games Volleyball Invitational.

The Lions began pool play on Friday with a 25-15, 26-24 victory over Alta Loma at Santiago High School in Corona.

Senior Hollie Hooper led the Lions with eight kills and 12 digs.

Fellow senior Makayla Ziegler added five kills.

Junior Kendall Stark accumulated a team-best 19 assists.

The Lions finished pool play with a 16-25, 24-26 loss to Bishop Amat.

Ziegler finished with a team-best 10 kills, while senior Layla Graham added seven kills.

Junior Madi Goodrich collected a team-best 13 digs, with Hooper supplying 10 digs.

Stark dished out a team-leading 21 assists in the match.

JSerra opened action in the Gold Division Bracket on Saturday with a 26-24, 25-16 win over Eleanor Roosevelt at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Eastvale.

Ziegler recorded a match-best 18 kills, while junior Cassie Bartholomew totaled seven kills.

Stark passed for 27 assists, with Goodrich adding 13 digs, both team-high match totals.

The Lions were then defeated in the Gold Division quarterfinals by Los Osos 19-25, 25-18, 13-15.

Ziegler totaled a team-best 15 kills, with Bartholomew producing 10 kills.

Stark produced 30 assists in the match, putting her at over 1,000 assists for her career to date.
