TOMPKINS EARNS PRESTIGIOUS CIF AWARD: Senior Rocco Tompkins has garnered one of the state’s most acclaimed awards, as he is one of six students to be selected as a CIF Spirit of Sport Award winner for the 2025-26 school year.
“The CIF Spirit of Sport Award honors student-athletes who exemplify character, leadership, and dedication,” said CIF Executive Director Ron Nocetti. “These individuals lead by example, demonstrating integrity, sportsmanship, and a strong commitment to their communities.”
Tompkins is the first student-athlete in school history to be recognized for the award and was honored along with the five other winners by the CIF State office last Friday during a ceremony at the CIF Federated Council luncheon in Oakland.
Tompkins, a team captain on the gridiron last fall, set the school’s single season tackles record and earned All-County Second Team honors amongst a plethora of awards.
He was also a member of the @jserra.wrestling team and is currently on the CIF-SS postseason bound @jserralionslax Boys Lacrosse team.
Tompkins continues to be equally accomplished off the field, as he founded the Tri Saxum Foundation, a nonprofit that assists youth engagement in sports and activities by helping to eliminate financial barriers.
He is also an Eagle Scout, a member of the California Scholastic Federation, and a member of the JSerra Engineering Magnet.
Tompkins, who will attend Colorado School of Mines next fall, highlighted the immense value that being part of a team has brought to his life.
“I learned about different cultures, perspectives, and what it means to genuinely belong. These are my brothers. My family. That is what education-based athletics is all about: belonging, growing, learning, connecting, and competing together.”
