Mark Washington
2025-26 Team
Football Assistant Coach
Coach Mark Washington joins the JSerra Football staff bringing a rare combination of NFL experience, collegiate coaching background, and proven high‑school success. A former NFL linebacker, Washington spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, and Minnesota Vikings after a standout career at Arizona State University and Texas State University, where he earned a reputation for intelligence, toughness, and leadership.
Before arriving at JSerra, Coach Washington served as the Defensive Coordinator at Dana Hills High School, where he led the most dominant defensive unit in school history. Under his leadership, Dana Hills set all‑time program records in sacks and interceptions, while his defense allowed only 2 yards per rush—a historic benchmark for the program. His ability to teach technique, build confidence, and elevate player performance transformed the unit into one of the most respected defenses in the region.
Washington also brings collegiate coaching experience from Humboldt State University, where he coached outside linebackers and helped guide the team to a conference championship and an NCAA playoff appearance. His background at the college level adds depth to his understanding of player development, scheme installation, and preparing athletes for the next level.
At JSerra, Coach Washington will serve as the Linebackers Coach and Pass Rush Specialist, bringing his expertise in defensive fundamentals, pressure packages, and front‑seven development to the Trinity League. He will also assist on special teams, contributing to the overall physicality and discipline of the program.
Known for his ability to connect with players, Washington emphasizes teamwork, mental toughness, and accountability. His mentorship inspires athletes to push their limits, embrace challenges, and pursue excellence on and off the field. His arrival strengthens JSerra’s commitment to building elite competitors and high‑character young men.
