LATE COMEBACK LEADS LIONS TO HISTORIC CIF-SS TITLE


The JSerra Girls Golf team produced history in thrilling fashion on Monday, as the Lions surged back from a late deficit to claim the program’s first ever CIF-SS title at the CIF-SS Division 3 Team Championships on the Victoria Lakes Course of the River Ridge Country Club in Oxnard.

Junior Christine Walker spearheaded the Lions’ scoring effort, producing four pars on the front nine and five pars on the back nine to finish with a score of 82.

Senior Isabella Ibarra was also a key catalyst, as she made par on six holes over the front nine and four on the back nine to finish with a score of 83.

Freshman Charlotte Smith shot an 84 with four pars across both the front and back nines.

Sophomore Samantha Robles recorded an 86 for her round, featuring a stellar front nine performance that saw her record a birdie on the par-5 fourth hole and shoot to par on six other holes.

Senior Cali Campbell shot to par on seven holes in her round to finish with an 87 for her round.

Senior Coco Makos shot a score of 95, highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 ninth hole.

JSerra was seven shots off the lead with six holes left to play, but stormed back to finish with a cumulative score of 422, which yielded a one-point victory over runner-up Chadwick (423) and an eight-point advantage over third place Marina (430).
