The JSerra Boys Cross Country team basked in the historical glow of championship spotlight for the first time this fall.

After two straight seasons of finishing second at both the CIF-SS Division 4 Finals and the CIF State Cross Country Championships, the Lions made sure that the third time on the season’s biggest stages would be the charm.

After winning their sixth Trinity League title in the last eight years, the Lions outlasted runner-up Foothill Technology by three points in a thrilling Division 4 race to win their first ever sectional crown.

More history awaited JSerra the following week at Woodward Park in Fresno, as the Lions scoring compression of 26 seconds fueled their first ever state championship.

JSerra was the lone Orange County school to win dual titles at both the CIF-SS and CIF State competitions.
