LIONS ROAR AT TRINITY FINALS: The @jserra.tfxc Girls and Boys teams flexed their collective muscles at the Trinity League Finals on Friday at JSerra Catholic High School.
Junior Reese Holley, the county’s current fastest four-lapper, successfully defended her title in a time of 4:50.63.
Freshmen Maya Pawlowicz (4:53.41) and Brooklyn Tennant (a lifetime-best 4:58.21), along with sophomore Kaia Streadbeck (4:58.22) placed in the top six.
In the boys 1600m race, senior Luke Friedl took home his second league title by crossing the finish line in a time of 4:17.84.
Junior Zac O’Leary (4:20.07) and senior Cole Carlson (4:22.61) placed third and sixth respectively.
The girls 800m race turned into an impressive showcase of mid-distance strength for the Lions.
Holley, the county’s fastest half-miler coming into the weekend, powered to a win in 2:09.69.
Senior Chloe Elbaz was second in 2:11.68, followed by fellow senior Mireya Hardman (a lifetime best 2:13.32).
Pawlowicz (2:15.31), junior Hayden Kroger (a lifetime best 2:15.68), and Streadbeck (2:15.99) comprised the next three places.
Seniors Alden Morales, Jack Burnett, and J.P. De Santos stormed to the front of the boys 800m race, with Morales clocking a new meet record of 1:50.91.
Burnett was second in 1:53.60, with De Santos placing third in 1:55.53, and Friedl taking fourth in 1:56.84.
Senior Maya Woolforde (56.83) won the 400m title for the third time in four seasons.
Woolforde, Elbaz, Hardman, and sophomore Morgan Woolforde joined forces to win the 4x400m relay in 3:54.84.
Junior Nylah Key was impressive en route to winning both the long jump (a school record leap of 18 feet, 5¼ inches), and the triple jump (33 feet, 9 inches).
Junior Kai Beary was a repeat winner in both the discus (120 feet, 2 inches) and the shot put (36 feet, 7 inches).
Senior Helena Reuter triumphed in the pole vault for a second straight year with a clearance of 12 feet even, with junior Adi Rusin (11 feet, 9 inches) placing second.
Senior Molly Hogan elevated to the league crown in the high jump with a clearance of 5 feet, 2 inches.
