LIONS CONTINUE HOT START WITH WIN IN SAN DIEGO

The JSerra Girls Water Polo team returned to pool action on Friday and continued their hot start to the season, as the Lions defeated the Clairemont Chieftains by a score of 12-7 in a nonleague game at Clairemont Community Pool in San Diego.

The Lions, playing for the first time since December 10th, improved their record to 9-1.

It was a stellar debut for junior Maddie Weston, who took to the pool for the first time this season, and scored a team-high five goals.

Weston’s strong activity also helped earned three exclusions.

Junior Kamryn McCord continued her strong play by scoring four goals.

Fellow junior Gabby Elbaz found the back of the net twice, while sophomore Victoria Williams also tallied a goal.

The Lions defense recorded seven steals in the game.

JSerra will next be in action on Saturday, January 11th when they host Schurr High School in a nonleague contest at JSerra Catholic High School.

That game is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
