LIONS SHUTDOWN SERVITE IN TRINITY LEAGUE OPENER
The JSerra Boys Soccer team kicked off Trinity League action in victorious fashion on Friday, as the Lions defeated the Servite Friars 4-1 at JSerra Catholic High School.
The Lions grabbed a 1-0 lead in 24th minute, as sophomore Aquiles Rodriguez sent a pass down the field for senior Gavin Allegaert, who out-raced the Friars goalie to the ball, tapped it pass him into open field, and blasted a shot into the wide open goal.
JSerra increased the advantage in the 49th minute, as Rodriguez corralled a rebounded save and knocked the ball into the back of the net.
Senior Jake Tatch found the back of the net in the 57th minute off an assist from senior Angel Reyes to give JSerra a 3-0 lead.
The Friars got on the the scoreboard on a penalty kick in the 73rd minute, but Tatch responded with his second goal of the match a minute later to cap the scoring and seal the triumph.
JSerra is now 4-0 this season and will be on the road next Wednesday when they take on Orange Lutheran.
Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
